**Sindh Minister Orders Crackdown on Overcharging Transporters During Eidul Fitr**
Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon has ordered strict action against transporters who are charging excessive fares during the upcoming Eidul Fitr 2025 holiday.
With Eidul Fitr expected to be observed across Pakistan on Monday, March 31, 2025, this move aims to provide relief to passengers traveling to their hometowns.
Sindh transport authorities, including DIG Traffic and commissioners, have been instructed to regulate fares and prevent any illegal price hikes. Immediate action will be taken against those found violating the regulations.
Minister Memon emphasized that strict penalties will be imposed on transporters found guilty of overcharging. He also urged the public to report any instances of excessive fare demands.
This initiative comes as millions of commuters prepare to travel from major cities to their native areas for Eid, leading to a surge in demand for transport. While private transporters often increase fares during this period, many passengers prefer the comfort and affordability of train travel with their families.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi, last week, announced that Pakistan Railways will operate four special trains to facilitate passengers during Eidul Fitr 2025 and offer a 20 percent special discount.
