Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that an emergency could be declared in regions of Pakistan experiencing a deteriorating situation.
The minister made these remarks during an appearance on ARY News’ talk show, “Khabar with Muhammad Malik.”
During the program, Asif questioned the relevance of inviting the PTI’s founder to a meeting, pointing out his lack of condemnation for a recent incident in Balochistan. “He has no interest in the issue, so why should he be invited?” the federal minister asked.
Asif also touched upon the controversial issue of Taliban resettlement, claiming that former Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa had both proposed and implemented the plan. He called for Bajwa to be held accountable for this decision.
Furthermore, the Defence Minister described the appointment of Javed Iqbal as chairman of the missing persons’ commission as a “compromised decision.”
