**Mishal Yousafzai Case: IHC Initiates Contempt Proceedings**

Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Ejaz Ishaq Khan has taken suo moto notice and initiated contempt of court proceedings regarding the removal of the Mishal Yousafzai case from the court’s cause list.

During the hearing, Justice Ejaz Ishaq Khan questioned the state counsel, “Under which law was the miscellaneous petition for transfer of the case filed? Does the state support transferring the case to a larger bench without the consent of the judge?”

Expressing his strong disapproval, the judge remarked, “Instead of doing this, you would have detonated the foundations of my court with explosives.”

Justice Ejaz Ishaq Khan then inquired about the cancellation of the cause list from the Deputy Registrar Judicial, who replied, “We have received instructions from the Chief Justice’s Office.” The official further explained that the Chief Justice’s office had ordered the cancellation due to the constitution of a larger bench for the case.

Mishal Yousafzai’s consul expressed concern, stating, “If it is happening with us, how are other people being treated by them?”

Justice Ejaz Ishaq Khan emphasized the gravity of the situation, saying, “We have concerns about our institution; the guided missile that was going towards you has now been directed towards us. It is not the issue of my person or my authority, it is the issue of the dignity of the high court.”

“I am initiating these proceedings to decide all these questions,” he added.

The court has adjourned the hearing until tomorrow.
