Huawei Pura X: Redefining Foldable Phones with a Unique Hybrid Design

Here’s a rewritten version of the article suitable for a blog post, focusing on a more engaging and reader-friendly style:

# Huawei Pura X Has a Unique Take on Foldable Design

Huawei’s shaking up the foldable phone scene with the Pura X, launched in China. This isn’t your typical foldable – it’s a hybrid, blending design cues from both book-style and clamshell foldables. The result? A device that’s surprisingly compact when folded, yet expands to a wide, expansive display. Let’s dive into what makes the Pura X stand out.

## Design and Display: A Foldable Unlike Any Other

The Pura X’s unique design leads to some interesting dimensions. Unfolded, it measures 143.2 mm tall and 91.7 mm wide. Fold it up, and it shrinks to 91.7 mm by 74.3 mm. The star of the show is a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED main display, boasting a 16:10 aspect ratio, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and a dazzling peak brightness of 2,500 nits.

But that’s not all. The outer cover features a 3.5-inch square display, nestled beside a powerful triple-camera setup. Cleverly, Huawei has positioned the earpiece near the cover’s LED flash, allowing you to take calls even when the phone is folded.

## Under the Hood: Power and Innovation

While Huawei was initially tight-lipped about the chipset, it’s now confirmed to be the Kirin 9020 SoC – the same powerhouse found in the Mate 70 series. This is a HiSilicon-developed chip that made its debut in November 2024.

The Pura X runs on HarmonyOS 5.0, Huawei’s own operating system. To keep things cool under pressure, Huawei has incorporated advanced thermal management, using graphite-based elements with impressive thermal conductivity (up to 2,000 W/m·K). Select models also offer satellite connectivity, although this feature is currently limited to Chinese satellites.

## Cameras: A Versatile Trio

The back of the Pura X houses a trio of impressive cameras:

* **Main Camera:** A 50MP wide-angle lens (f/1.6 aperture, RYYB sensor, and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS)).
* **Ultrawide Camera:** A 40MP lens (also with an RYYB sensor).
* **Telephoto Camera:** An 8MP lens offering 3.5x optical zoom and OIS.

Adding to the mix is a spectral sensor, previously featured on the Mate 70 Pro. For video calls and selfies, there’s a 10MP front-facing camera punch-hole cutout on the inner display. Though the main camera is there if you want to take selfie.

## Battery, Price, and Availability

Powering the Pura X is a 4,720mAh battery (split into two cells), supporting 66W wired and 40W wireless charging. Pricing starts at $1,035 for the 12GB RAM/256GB storage model, climbing to $1,380 for the top-tier 16GB RAM/1TB storage version. You can choose from Black, White, and Silver, or go for the special Collector’s Edition finishes in Pattern Green or Pattern Red.

The Pura X launched in China on March 21st. There’s no word yet on an international release.
