Pakistani Cricketers Fined Millions for Rule Violations: PCB Cracks Down

Pakistani cricketers have reportedly been hit with fines by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for breaching team rules during recent tours and matches. The penalties have varied, ranging from substantial amounts for significant violations to smaller sums for minor infractions, with some fines even being subsequently returned.

The current PCB administration, under chairman Mohsin Naqvi, has reportedly implemented a strict disciplinary code for players, especially during tours.

All-rounder Aamer Jamal reportedly received the largest fine, approximately Rs. 1.4 million, during a Test match. The infraction? Writing “804” on his cap, a violation of team protocols.

During Pakistan’s tour of Australia, three players—Vice Captain Salman Ali Agha, and openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique—were each fined Rs. 500,000 for a late-night return to the team hotel.

In the South Africa series, Sufiyan Muqeem, Usman Khan, Abbas Afridi, and an unnamed fast bowler were each fined $200 for being just two minutes late to the team hotel. However, these fines were later refunded.

The refunds were issued as a gesture of goodwill following Pakistan’s clean sweep victory in the ODI series against South Africa. Team management decided to celebrate the achievement by returning the deducted amounts.
