**Update on New Currency Notes for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025**

With Ramadan in full swing and Eid-ul-Fitr drawing near, many Pakistanis are looking forward to the tradition of giving “Eidi” – gifts of money, typically in the form of crisp, new currency notes.
In previous years, the central bank released a large volume of new notes before Eid. However, this practice was halted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, people have had to rely on used notes for their Eid celebrations.
**Will We See New Notes This Year?**
Unfortunately, sources suggest that the issuance of new currency notes this year is unlikely. While the State Bank hasn’t released an official statement, it appears the central bank won’t be providing new notes for Eid-ul-Fitr.
This likely means that currency dealers will, as usual, sell new notes on the black market at significantly higher prices. Those wishing to give new notes as Eidi will probably have to pay a premium.
