**PESHAWAR:** A brazen daylight robbery in Peshawar’s Hashtnagri area saw armed robbers make off with over 30 million rupees from a Bank of Punjab cash van on Monday.
The robbers, driving a vehicle, intercepted the cash van and swiftly looted the substantial sum before fleeing the scene. According to reports, the van was targeted, and the thieves plundered the cash.
SSP-Operations Peshawar stated that the cash van failed to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Police are actively investigating the incident, collecting CCTV footage from various locations to aid in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators.
Preliminary investigations indicate that four robbers were involved, with two arriving on a motorbike, the SSP added.
This incident echoes a similar heist last August in Islamabad, where a security guard was tragically killed, and robbers escaped with 30 million rupees from a cash van. That robbery, within the Shahzad Town Police Station’s jurisdiction, also left another guard injured.
In another notable case in Karachi, a cash van driver absconded with 205 million rupees from a bank on I.I. Chundrigar Road. A case was registered against at driver and his accomplices. police confirmed that the driver fled with the van while the security guards were delivering cash inside the bank.
