**Black Caps Dominate Pakistan in T20I Opener with Crushing 9-Wicket Win**
New Zealand delivered a commanding performance, defeating Pakistan by nine wickets in the first of a five-match T20 series at Hagley Oval on Sunday, securing an early 1-0 lead.
Pakistan’s batting lineup crumbled after being put in to bat, succumbing to a disciplined New Zealand bowling attack and getting dismissed for a paltry 91 runs in 18.4 overs. Kyle Jamieson spearheaded the bowling effort, claiming crucial early wickets. The Men in Green were in immediate trouble, losing three wickets with only one run on the scoreboard. Mohammad Haris was dismissed for a duck, and Irfan Khan could only manage a single.
Khushdil Shah top-scored for Pakistan with 32, followed by captain Agha Salman (18) and Jahandad Khan (17). The rest of the batting order struggled, with Abdul Samad scoring 7, Shadab Khan 3, and Abrar Ahmed 2. Irfan Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Ali each contributed a single run, while openers Mohammad Haris and Hassan Nawaz were both out for zero.
Jacob Duffy was the standout bowler for New Zealand, bagging 4 wickets. Kyle Jamieson took 3 wickets, Ish Sodhi claimed 2, and Zakary Foulkes dismissed one batsman.
Chasing a modest target of 91, New Zealand openers Tim Seifert and Finn Allen came out firing, putting on a rapid 53-run partnership within the powerplay. Their aggressive batting set the tone for a comfortable chase.
The Black Caps cruised to victory in the 11th over, achieving the target with nine wickets to spare and taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
The second match of the series is scheduled for Tuesday.
