Eid ul Fitr 2025: Pakistan Announces Official Holidays (March 31 – April 2)

**Govt Announces Eidul Fitr 2025 Holidays**

The federal government has announced the official holidays for Eidul Fitr 2025. According to a notification from the Cabinet Division, the holidays will be observed from Monday, March 31st, to Wednesday, April 2nd.

Eidul Fitr is expected to be celebrated across Pakistan on Monday, March 31st, 2025, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan (assuming a 29-day Ramadan).

The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council anticipates that the Shawwal crescent moon will be visible on the evening of Sunday, March 30th, *provided the weather is clear*.

Khalid Ijaz Mufti, Secretary General of the council, explained that the new moon will be born on Saturday, March 29th, at 3:58 PM Pakistan time. By sunset on Sunday, the moon will be over 26 hours old, old enough to be seen with the naked eye.

Mufti further clarified that the moon needs to be at least 18 hours old at sunset for sighting, a condition that will be comfortably met. The time difference between sunset and moonset, crucial for visibility, will also surpass the minimum requirement of 40 minutes in various cities.

Given these favorable conditions, the council expects no issues in confirming the crescent sighting, leading to Eid celebrations on March 31st.
