Finance Ministry Denies Reports of Federal Employee Salary, Pension Increase

The Finance Ministry has issued a clarification stating that Federal Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb did not announce or propose any salary or pension increases for government employees.

Responding to reports attributed to the minister, a press release clarified that no such announcement was made on the floor of the National Assembly. The ministry emphasized that the minister’s speech did not include any mention of revisions to pay scales or increases in salaries and allowances.

The clarification came in a written response to a question raised in the Assembly. The Finance Ministry informed the House that, currently, there is no proposal under consideration to revise pay scales or increase salaries and allowances for federal government employees in the upcoming financial year.

Earlier reports had indicated that, in a written response, Finance Minister Aurangzeb stated no proposal for a salary or pension hike was being considered for the 2025-26 budget. He had mentioned that the government was, however, reviewing increases in hiring and ceiling limits for employees. The minister further clarified that the government’s priority is currently on controlling expenditures and achieving economic stability.
