**Cop Suspended for Refusing to Pay for Sherbet Bottle in Karachi**
A Karachi police officer has been suspended after refusing to pay for a bottle of sherbet, highlighting yet another instance of police misconduct.
The incident occurred in the Sher Shah area, at a shop within the Site B police station’s jurisdiction. A viral video captured Sub-Inspector Javed forcibly taking a rose sherbet bottle from a shopkeeper without paying.
The shopkeeper, who identified himself as a salesman, resisted the officer’s actions. However, the cop, removing his mask to reveal his face, insisted, telling the salesman to simply inform the shop owner about him.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Madadgar 15, Imran Shaukat, took immediate action after the report on ARY News, suspending Sub-Inspector Javed.

This incident follows another recent case of police brutality, where a Karachi police officer and three companions were filmed assaulting a street fruit seller in front of his young daughter. The altercation began when the vendor objected to the officer taking a melon without permission. The viral video of the assault sparked widespread outrage, resulting in the dismissal of Constable Zafar and the suspension of three other officers.
SSP Central Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqui met with the fruit seller, offering a bouquet and gathering details of the incident. SSP Siddiqui assured the vendor of the police department’s support, stating, “The Sindh Police stand with you. This was an individual act, not representative of the entire force. There are good and bad people everywhere.” He also informed the vendor about the disciplinary actions taken against the officers involved.
