Karachi authorities have implemented a two-day ban on pillion riding (carrying a passenger on a motorcycle) in the city. The ban, enacted under Section 144, coincides with Youm-e-Ali.

According to a notification from the Commissioner of Karachi, the restriction is intended to maintain law and order in Sindh during the observance of Youm-e-Ali.

The ban will be in effect from the 21st to the 22nd of Ramadan. Violators will face strict legal action.

Exemptions to the ban include women, children, the elderly, and journalists.

Karachi Police have put in place comprehensive security measures to safeguard the main Youm-e-Ali procession. Additional IG Karachi, Javed Alam Odho, oversaw the security arrangements.

A total of 5367 police officers and personnel are assigned to security duty. Walk-through gates are installed at the entry and exit points along the procession route. Additionally, bomb disposal squads and Special Branch personnel are deployed to conduct searches of both participants and spectators.
