Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has announced a significant discovery of new oil and gas reserves in North Waziristan. The find was made at the Spinwam-1 Well within the Karghar Formation.

According to a company spokesperson, the well is currently yielding 20.48 million standard cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of gas, along with 117 barrels of oil per day. This marks the second successful discovery from the Spinwam-1 well.

This new discovery is anticipated to play a role in addressing the country’s energy requirements, helping to narrow the gap between supply and demand.

This isn’t the only recent success for Mari Petroleum. Earlier in July 2024, the company also successfully discovered new gas reserves from five wells in Sindh.

Following the submission of detailed reports to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Mari Petroleum confirmed that it had completed the testing, production, and transmission of an additional 3 million metric standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas.

The natural gas extracted from the Ghazij Gas Field in Sindh is now being supplied to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). This previous discovery, announced on July 1, was also communicated to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
