**Murree Development Project Worth Rs4.5b Launched on CM Maryam’s Instructions**

A Rs4.5 billion project has been launched in Murree to revamp the hill station’s infrastructure, aiming to boost tourism and enhance its appeal. Director General of the Walled City of Lahore Authority, Kamran Lashari, announced that the project, under the direct supervision of the Chief Minister, will be completed within 18 months.

The plan includes restoring shops and buildings around the General Post Office (GPO) to Mall Road, bringing back their original historical charm. Lashari emphasized that the project will transform Murree into a “world-class tourist destination,” highlighting Pakistan’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

The development focuses on sustainable practices, ensuring the preservation of Murree’s natural environment while providing modern amenities. The goal is to increase tourism, create employment opportunities, and stimulate economic growth, making Murree a top destination for both domestic and international visitors.

Additionally, a glass train is planned for Murree, offering tourists a unique experience. Alongside boosting tourism, the initiative seeks to maintain the area’s historical essence.
The Walled City of Lahore Authority is also restoring and beautifying other landmarks including heritage sites associated with Sufi poets, shrines, gurdwaras and churches in various cities of Punjab.

Lashari announced facilitated visits to Sufi shrines for students in Lahore. He explained that these visits, featuring affordable tickets and guided tours, aim to promote cultural awareness and spiritual education, deepening students’ understanding of Pakistan’s heritage and the importance of Sufism.

He highlighted the increasing number of Sikh tourists visiting Pakistan, particularly Punjab, and their appreciation for the country’s hospitality and mentioned that growing tourism extends beyond Sikh visitors, attracting people globally to Pakistan’s diverse attractions.
