**KARACHI:** The investigation into the murder of Mustafa Amir has taken a new turn, with police deciding to include Kamran Qureshi, the father of prime accused Armaghan, in the inquiry.

A progress report on the investigation has been submitted to the court.

Crucially, Armaghan’s confessional statement has been recorded on video, and police have confirmed its contents in their remand report. The report states, “The accused has confessed that he had informed his father, Kamran Qureshi, after the murder.”

Based on this statement, police say, “Police has to question the father of the accused in the light of his statement.”

Further investigative steps include forensic analysis of Armaghan’s laptop and mobile phones, which have been sent to a forensic lab in Punjab.

The accused provided his confessional statement in the presence of the SSP Anti-Violent Crimes Cell (AVCC).

Police have emphasized that the investigation remains incomplete and requested an extension of the accused’s physical remand until March 24.

In a previous hearing, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi had already extended Armaghan’s physical remand in the case for seven days. The court also directed the investigation officer to submit a progress report by the next hearing.
