**Nine Khwarij Killed, Two Soldiers Martyred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Operations: ISPR**
RAWALPINDI: Nine khwarij were killed during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Saturday.
“On March 14-15, 2025, Nine Khwarij were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province,” the ISPR stated.
An IBO was conducted in Mohmand District based on reports of Khwarij presence. “During the operation, our troops effectively engaged the khwarijs’ location, resulting in seven khwarij being killed,” the ISPR said.
However, during an intense exchange of fire, two soldiers, Havildar Muhammad Zahid (37) from Malakand District and Sepoy Aftab Ali Shah (26) from Chitral, were martyred.
In another encounter in the Maddi area of Dera Ismail Khan District, a firefight between troops and khwarij resulted in the deaths of two khwarij.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed khwarij, who were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities.
Sanitization operations are underway to eliminate any remaining Kharji in the area, reaffirming the security forces’ determination to eradicate terrorism from the country, the military’s media wing stated.
Earlier, at least six khwarij were killed during an IBO in North Waziristan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
“On 28 February 2025, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in general area Ghulam Khan Kalay, North Waziristan District on reported presence of Khwarij, the ISPR added.
It added that during the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location, as a result of which, six khwarij were killed.
“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous activities against the security forces as well as killing of innocent civilians”, the military’s media wing said.
