**NA Body Summons Briefing on Jaffar Express Incident**
The National Assembly’s Standing Committee for Railways has called for a briefing from Pakistan Railways authorities regarding the recent Jaffar Express incident in Balochistan’s Bolan district.
The Secretary of Railways and the Inspector General (I.G.) of Railway Police are scheduled to brief the committee on Tuesday about the incident. The committee has also requested the I.G. Police Railways to provide information on train security measures.
The incident, which occurred on March 11, involved a terrorist attack on the Quetta to Peshawar Jaffar Express in the Bolan area. Militants detonated a bomb on the railway track and reportedly held around 400 passengers, including women and children, hostage.
According to a media briefing by DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, all 33 terrorists involved in the attack were killed. However, the incident resulted in the tragic loss of 21 passengers and 4 FC personnel.
Beyond the Jaffar Express incident, the NA committee has also requested a briefing on major projects undertaken by Pakistan Railways.
The standing committee session will review and approve railway development projects for the upcoming financial year. Additionally, a sub-committee will present its report during the session.
