A full bench, headed by Chief Justice Iqbal Hameed ur Rehman, and including Justices Khadim M. Shaikh, Dr. Muhammad Mehmood Anwar, and Ameer Muhammad, delivered the landmark verdict. The court found that ‘Chadar and ‘Parchi’ directly contradict the inheritance rights granted to women in the Quran and Sunnah (the teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad).

The verdict emphasizes that forcing women to give up their inheritance due to societal pressure violates both Islamic principles and Pakistani law.  The Federal Shariat Court has directed authorities to take legal action, specifically under Section 498, against anyone enforcing these practices.

The ruling also highlights the critical need for increased awareness and stronger enforcement of existing laws that protect women’s inheritance rights. ensuring women are able to claim their rightful share.
