The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released a statement addressing the availability of new currency notes for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025.

The central bank has firmly denied any rumors suggesting that new notes will not be issued. The SBP reaffirmed its commitment to upholding its “long-standing tradition” of supplying commercial banks with fresh currency notes for the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025.

To ensure the public can easily obtain new notes, the SBP is utilizing the extensive branch network of banks nationwide. The SBP stated, “During Ramadan this year, the SBP has already provided new currency notes worth Rs 27 billion to over 17,000 commercial bank branches.”

The SBP has also made arrangements for cash distribution through banks’ ATM networks during the religious festival. Furthermore, cash monitoring teams are in place to ensure the availability of new notes at all commercial bank branches.

As Ramadan continues and Eid-ul-Fitr approaches, many Pakistanis are preparing for the cherished tradition of giving “Eidi,” typically in the form of new currency notes, to loved ones.

Eid-ul-Fitr is anticipated to be on Monday, March 31, 2025, based on predictions from the Pakistan Meteorological Department. The final decision regarding the moon sighting, however, rests with the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
