**KARACHI:** While Sindh has announced Eidul Fitr 2025 holidays from Monday, March 31st to April 2nd, one department will be working through the celebrations: the Transport and Mass Transit Department.
The Sindh government has cancelled Eid holidays for transport officials in an effort to curb overcharging of fares during the busy holiday period.
Sindh Minister for Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, confirmed that the holidays for the department’s staff have been revoked. This decision is designed to protect passengers traveling for Eid celebrations from being exploited by inflated prices.
The government’s goal is to ensure a smooth and affordable travel experience for the public during Eid. Transport officials will be on duty throughout the holiday period to facilitate commuters and enforce fare regulations.
Minister Memon urged citizens to refuse to pay any extra fare and warned transporters against overcharging. He assured the public that strict action will be taken against any violators.
Complaints of excessive fare charges by transporters are common during major festivities like Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha, prompting this proactive measure by the Sindh government.
